A whimsical tale about a South Asian Princess named Diya, a quick-witted and picky girl who refuses to eat vegetables—until a sweet-toothed dragon raids the castle, devouring all her favourite treats.

To avoid becoming the dragon's next meal, Diya cleverly convinces Dragon to try vegetables, only to discover they're not as "icky" as she thought.

The Picky Princess and the Dragon by Ritu Kumar is such a delightful read! Princess Diya is clever, picky, and full of personality, and my kids loved watching her clever plan unfold when the sweet-toothed dragon raids the castle.

Kelsey Marshalsey’s illustrations are bright, magical, and full of humor, perfectly capturing the fun and chaos of this adventurous feast. The story gently encourages children to try new foods while keeping them giggling and engaged from start to finish. A perfect tale for imaginative kids who love princesses, dragons, and a little bit of mischief! 🐉👑🥕✨

I received an ARC from Net Galley in exchange for a review. My daughter and I both enjoyed this one! The rhyme scheme was well done and the illustrations were fun and colorful. As a mom I liked the questions at the end, too. My daughter said her favorite part was that they tried new foods.

This is a great book for the beloved picky eater in your life.

My 9 year old daughter read this on her own and really liked it. She said she liked when the dragon tried the food finally and enjoyed it.

The visuals were beautiful and everything I desire in a children’s book! Very colorful and full of details.

It is a bit word heavy, so parents be prepared for that (or it is great for 8/9+ year olds— I think my 7 year old son would potentially tire)

It’s a cute read and I love that there’s practical application, a search and find, and discussion prompts at the end! Would definitely recommend
